‘Your death brought me unbearable pain’, Wunmi pays tribute to Mohbadon first death anniversary

One year after the death of her husband, Wunmi, the widow of late Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, has described what she feels.

In a heartfelt tribute she posted on Instagram on Thursday, the widow reminisced on the memories she shared with her husband and the unfulfilled promises.

Describing her late husband as her bestfriend, Wunmi, who has faced diverse adversaries over the paternity of her child, Liam, wrote, “It’s been a year today since you left me and our Liam in this cold world. The pain has been immense. I miss you so much, and Liam misses you too. I often wonder how you would have been an incredible father if you were here to see him grow.

“I still struggle to understand how I’ve survived without you. I wish you were here every single day. Your passing has brought unbearable pain, but it has also shaped me. I’ve learned and am still learning so much.

“Though I’ll never fully accept your absence, I keep hoping it’s a nightmare I’ll wake up from, but 366 days have passed, and it hasn’t been so.

“Oko mi, we had so many plans, and you had so much more to offer. It hurts deeply to know that our dreams and everything you worked for are now gone with you.

“I want you to know that Liam and I hold onto the strength and love you gave us. Every day, I see pieces of you in him—your kindness, your smile, your spirit. I promise to raise him with the love and care you would have given him, keeping your memory alive in every step of his life.

“But today, I choose to celebrate you. Today, I choose to honor your legacy. Today, I give all glory to God for blessing me with you, Ilerioluwa. Today, I choose to be grateful for the gift of Liam—the beauty that came from our ashes.

“My love, I pray for your soul today. May God forgive your shortcomings and welcome you to rest at His right hand. I hope it’s always a celebration where you are.

“I love you deeply. Thank you for Liam—I’m forever grateful for the gift of him.

“Fly high with the angels, love of my life.”

Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, under circumstances that remain unclear. Mohbad and Omowunmi were in a courtship for eight years before marrying in 2022.
