There is no doubt that singer , Kenny Saint Best , has benefited from the success of her elder brother, Kenny Ogungbe. At a time, she was even signed to Kennis Music , which was co -owned by him .
However , she told Sunday Scoop that being Kenny Ogungbe’ s younger sister comes with certain disadvantages .
KSB said , “ When I joined the music industry , it was not easy to convince people that I was talented .
They felt that my brother had a hand in everything I was doing. People didn ’ t give me credit for music ; they only knew me as Kenny Ogungbe’ s younger sister.
It was as if I didn ’ t deserve any credibility as an artiste .
“ Anywhere I visited , they would address me as Baba Keke ’ s sister. I didn ’ t like that at all.
To get to where I am today , I had to prove myself to the world . I needed to work harder .
I didn ’ t want to ride on my brother’ s hard work . I thank God I was able to earn people ’ s respect in the long run . ”
She also stated that until she got the Channel O Music Video Awards nomination in 2010 for her song , Turn me Around , in which she featured Da Grin , she didn ’ t think she was doing serious music .
“ I started taking myself seriously as an artiste when I got a nomination at Channel O Music Video Awards.
I didn ’ t think it was a big deal until we got to Johannesburg and my name was among the best female musicians in Africa.
Though Mo ’ cheddah eventually won that particular award, it was an awesome moment for me.
The truth is that younger ones always get these awards , ” she said .
