The marriage travails that has seen popular Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh pack out of her marital home, leaving her husband incommunicado with his 1-year-son Andre King, is no longer funny.
What initially seemed like the usual drama that plays out in most celebrity marriages with the media blowing every snippet of misunderstanding out of proportion has now become a long drawn out game of accusations, denials and counter accusations.
The height of it all now seems to be Churchill’s inability now to reach Tonto Dikeh and his son, even on the occasion of his first birthday. Although, Tonto has on her part stated very clearly that Churchill has not made any effort to reach her, the mere fact of her absence means he still wouldn’t be there for his son on the occasion of his birthday. Must be a painful experience for many a father. But only Tonto Dikeh who has been wearing the marriage shoe and decided to move out with their son knows why she took that decision.
But all the fuss about infidelity, marijuana smoking, Rosaline Meurer, violence, pushing of mother-inlaw down, and what have you aside, it will seem Tonto Dikeh’s marriage to Churchill seriously lacks the mentoring and counselling that a biological father, spiritual father or mother, or even a mentor would provide at a critical moment as this. But, unlike many ‘frivolously’consumated marriages, Tonto’s has the rare benefit of having a person in the mold of ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo as ‘father-inlaw’ (Obasanjo is maternal uncle to Churchill Olakunle Oladunni). The inevitable question is: Why is the father-inlaw silent?
Well, rather than produce straight answers, that question alone can produce many more questions of its own. Questions like: Does it mean the uncle-nephew relationship between Obasanjo and Olakunle Churchill is not as cordial as claimed? If it were, does it mean OBJ doesn’t care about nephew’s marriage? Or does he just want him to be a man and solve his own household problems?
Or does it mean he doesn’t approve of Tonto Dikeh’s marriage to his nephew?
So many questions can pop up over Baba’s silence, but the present state of the marriage certainly calls for elderly intervention as neither Tonto Dikeh’s social media ‘playing to the gallery’ prayers nor her husband’s aloofness seem to be helping matters in restoring peace to the home of the actress who many fans obviously want reunited with her hubby. In the end, something has to give. Some one has to swallow their pride. Or better still, the voice and wisdom of an elder has to come in. Before it’s too late.
This happens to be a rare Celeb Police out-of-court settlement measure. What can be saved should be saved. Over to you Baba.
