Nigerian actors Nkem Owoh, Hafiz Oyetoro (Saka) and Adamu Zango survived the recent sack of MTN ambassadors because of regional consideration.
The three were some of the lucky few who survived a clear-out which saw the mobile telecommunications giant drop the likes of Davido, Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, Dr. Sid, Sound Sultan, Banky W, KCee and Harrysong.
This medium was informed by a source in the company that the retention of Owoh, Oyetoro and Zango was for their grassroots appeal.
“It is simple; Nkem Owoh appeals to customers to the Igbo, while Saka and Zango are for the Yoruba and Hausa respectively.
“Besides, they represent the three broad regional classifications within Nollywood,” the source told us.
MTN’s decision to reduce its brand ambassadors is the fallout of a N330billion fine imposed on it by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the economic recession in Nigeria.
