Why I stopped making music – Humblesmith
Nigerian Singer, Humblesmith has opened up on why he lost the urge to make music and took a long break from his craft.
The ‘Osinachi’ hitmaker cited that he was robbed of the royalties for his previous songs, which took away his passion for making music.
He blamed his former label, N-Tyze for his musical break saying, “There are details you’ve already heard—I haven’t been receiving royalties or any revenue from my songs. Even when I released the song under N-Tyze, I wasn’t paid any revenue or royalty. People expect that I should be making a lot of money from my songs, but it’s not what people think. The thing has really eaten me up. People play my songs and love me for them, but I’m not getting a dime from the revenue, and it hurts.
“It’s not everything one will say online, but we pray that whatever challenges we face, all glory goes to God. I have seen things in this industry and I understand there are no friends out there. It looks like this industry is governed by a particular circle. It got to a level where it felt like nobody in the industry wanted to listen to me or help me. That means they’ve heard things from some people, and they blackball one.”
