Top comedian, Ayo Makun, better known as AY, has stated one of the reasons he may never want to venture into politics as some of his colleagues are doing.
AY spoke on the backdrop of the controversies that trailed the just-concluded Best of Nollywood Awards (BON), where the Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi was accused of insulting those in the movie industry in Nigeria.
Reacting to the issue, AY said he may not consider going into politics because some people will like to misquote him in order to put him into trouble. He noted that during the cause of his work, he has made more enemies than friends.
AY, who won at the award ceremony, said with that kind of attitude, Nollywood may never grow. “I have made and acquired more enemies than friends as a result of lies that received negative baptism of fire to become facts,” the comedian said.
He said with the recent development, it might be difficult for top government officials to invite Nollywood for another event.
