Veteran Nollywood actor, Enebeli Elebuwa, who had been down with stroke for some time urgently needs prayers and support from all as his health seems to be getting worse by the day.
The actor, who can no longer walk on his own has been moved to St. Tropez Hospital, Surulere, Lagos where he is currently receiving treatment.
National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Segun Arinze visited the ailing Elebuwa in the hospital last week and commented that he is seriously concerned about current state of the thespian health.
Arinze has thus mobilized his colleagues in the A-list cadre to raise funds for proper treatment and welfare of the actor.
“It is sad. I shed tears when I visited him in the hospital. I pray that God will also intervene and heal him because we still need his wealth of experience in the industry and Nigeria at large,” said Arinze.
NollywoodReel gathered that the Elebuwa sickness has created more tension and fear among Nollywood practitioners, considering the rate at which prominent members have died in the last few months.
Enebeli Elebuwa hails from Upkane in Otagunu local government area of Delta State. His dad died when he was 10 years old, so he left his home town when he was only 12 to stay with someone in Lagos.
He is a retired civil servant and has been in the acting profession for the past 30 years. The first soap in which he appeared was Mirror In The Sun. He played in the first three pilot episodes and eventually worked as an assistant producer/director in the soap and has since been part of many productions including Heaven’s Gate produced by Zik Okafor.
His first movie was a film (celluloid) called Dinner with the Devil, produced by Sanya Dosumu in 1974/75. He played the role of a police officer investigating a crime. He also featured in other major films including Bisi Daughter of the River by Jab Adu and Eddie Ugboma’s Oyenusi. He also acted in the now rested popular television drama, the Village Headmaster.
