Following her spectacular performance in Funke Akindele’s latest movie, University of Lagos Theatre Arts graduate, Abimbola Thomas has emerged the new toast of Yoruba movie buffs. Delivering the role of Nikky Rugged with professionalism and dexterity, the Lagos born bursty and pretty actress has been catapulted to the level of A-list actress in a matter of months. In a chat recently, the pretty screen diva relishes her new status with great optimism that her best is yet to come, “I thank God it’s all working according to God’s plan. I am overwhelmed by the support and acceptance. I am sure I can do better. A lot of people want to see me up there and today, they are happy to see me make this progress.”
On her role in the wave making OMO GHETTO, she said, “it’s not different from my other roles. I deliver every role with equal dedication. The only different possibly is that I was able to express myself more in OMOGHETTO and that is why people are crazy about it. I know very well that I can always perform at that level. I was in Jenifa and I did so well. The producer of the two movies is not just a friend, but, a friend, who believes so much in her friends and their progress. The sky is the limit. You know what scene one production can do any day in film making, keep your fingers crossed.”
When is she coming out with her own movie? Very soon she said, “I am coming out with my movie very soon. It’s long overdue and I am working on it.
