Popular musician, Timi Dakolo and Pastor Reno Omokri are at each other. Trouble started after the singer took to his Twitter page and wrote:
“One of the biggest lies we were taught was that “money is the root of all evil”. And people we looked up to as the mouth piece of God screamed it repeatedly until it stuck in people’s mind. They saw the drive to want and Chase money as evil. So many people settled.”
Reno Omokri, taken to his Instagram page tackled the singer.
He said; “I am a clergyman myself, and indeed Timi Dakolo is mistaken to say that clergymen and Scripture have been teaching that money is the root of all evil, and that that is wrong.”
“Actually, that is not factual. It is a function of ignorance. What Scripture actually says, and what we preach is that “the LOVE of money is the root of all evil” – 1 Timothy 6:10.”
“Do not forget that the Good Samaritan was only good because he had money and used it well. God wants us to have money and to use it well. But He does not want us to love money and use people. He wants us to use money and help people.”
“Too often, perhaps for reasons of poor comprehension, people misquote God and Scripture, and remove or forget the words ‘love of’.”
“God is on His Throne, and He will not leave His Throne to correct the situation when He and His words are misquoted. Therefore, it is up to us, those who love and respect Him, to correct the situation when He and His words are misquoted.”
“That is why Scripture says: “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.”-2 Corinthians 5:20.”
However, in his reaction, Timi Dakolo took to his Instagram page on Saturday April 16th, 2022 and wrote:
“Dear wise one Reno Omokri, in your eternal wisdom, it is good that you have brought it up. I grew up hearing that money is the root of all evil and later discovered it is the love of money.”
“I particularly don’t agree with the word love, greed yes, covetousness yes, excessive and uncontrollable longing for money I will agree.”
“For we cannot interchange the word greed, covetousness with Love. Love stands alone. They are not synonyms and they can never be. Our purpose, business ideas and even daily wellbeing are all tied to money.”
“We all want more of it, so we create value and invest the ones we have so we can own more of it. Again I say “love cannot be interchange with Greed, covetousness. We all have a certain level of relationship with Money and we love/like the benefits it brings.”
“Everyone should have a loving relationship with money, you are permitted to love money but don’t let it get to the point of greed and evil doings. For nothing meaningful can be done without money. You can and should love money correctly everyone.”
“This is not a dispute, we are all open to learning.”
