Nollywood actress, Mbong Odungide Amata known as Mbong Amata is an actress, model, entrepreneur and philanthropist. The pretty mother of one is the ex-wife to veteran producer/director, Jeta Amata who was solely responsible for bringing her into the lime light.

The estranged couple met in 2001, when Mbong was only 16 and got married in 2008.

Sadly, the marriage didn’t last more than five years as they went separate ways in 2013.

Mbong has always pointed out the cause of breakup to be her marrying at a very young age which led to irreconcilable differences.

While many have been hopeful that the couple might still work things out, it’s been four years and nothing of such has happened as it appears they have both moved on.

One thing has got us thinking though and it is the fact that Mbong is still holding on Jeta’s last name.

And this is due to the fact that ‘Mbong Amata’ is already a household name, a brand of its own, that’s the name that shot her to stardom.

Changing that name would have an adverse effect on her brand, which is why she is still using the name.

This was exactly what happened to Saidi and Fathia Balogun, where Saidi begged her to leave his surname since they were no longer together.

Fathia had refused to, because it was already a household name and till now she still uses the name.

Although we haven’t heard anything From Jeta restraining her from using his name so it appears he is cool about it.

Will she ever drop the name ‘Amata’? We doubt it so much, but like the saying goes ’never say never’.

Between it all, she is definitely one of the phenomenon actress, Nollywood has ever produced.
