EJIKE Asiegbu, embattled president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria; AGN, is at present not enjoying the best of times as some members of the guild has opened up the heat on him for what they regard as his sit tight tendencies.
Fillers reaching Citytracker inform that last week, the bulky actor was dragged to the Federal High Court at Oyekan Abayomi Waterfront Ikoyi to answer questions on his insistence on “illegally occupying” the seat of the president of AGN, despite the fact that the two tenure he was allowed by the guild’s constitution, had long elapsed.
According to Citytracker source, last week’s outing at the courts was just to open the case, which is expected to generate enough fireworks to bring back real action to the apparent lull that had strangulated Nollywood for a while.
When http://www.nigeriafilms.com put a call to Mr. Asiegbu, he confirmed the story and described those who dragged him to court as “dissidents amongst us”, who according to him had long been expelled from AGN.
He particularly fingered the guild’s suspended vice-president, Mr. Steve Eboh as being the arrow-head of the current mutiny in the house of movies.
Further hearing on the case to determine whether Mr. Ejike Asiegbu should still remain in office as president of AGN or not was postponed till March, 2009.
