A mother and her child was said to have been killed by a stray bullet on Tuesday when some gang of 40 notorious robbers lay siege close to her house to invade two second generation banks in 4th Avenue, in Festac Town, Lagos.
The robbers who wore hoods were said to have robbed two banks very close to the victims house as they shoot indiscriminately in order to make a way into the two banks.
The bullet accidentally hit the mother and the daughter at at Block 8, 23 Road House Festac Town, Lagos.
The mother,Mrs. Jane Beluchukwu-Ndirika, a nurse, her 14-month-old daughter Nmesoma and her friend Uche,were inside her apartment when they heard the on the top floor of their three-story building when the bullets pierced through the door and hit them.

The baby died immediately but Ndirika bled for an hour before she died. Uche said effort to call for help proved abortive because the armed robbers were still in operation at that time for over and hour.
Meanwhile, Mr. John Irabor, a neighbour to the deceased said stray bullets entered two other flats in the building adding that she called the Area Commander and the state command’s Public Relations Officer, during the incident to come to their aid , they assured her they were on the way but did not show up until hours after the incident.
“I am very disappointed with the police because I personally called them. I called the Area Commander and I also called the state command’s Public Relations Officer, who assured me they were on their way.
“Unfortunately, the police did not show up until the robbers had fled.”
It was also learnt that a security man at one of the banks raided and another resident were hit by stray bullets.
