Stop comparing me with Tyla, Ayra Starr to fans
Nigerian singer, Ayra Starr has warned her fans to stop comparing her to her South African counterpart, Tyla.
Addressing the comparison which started after the duo were both nominated in the maiden Best African Music Performance category at the 66th Grammys, Ayra Starr said she’s not letting the comparison affect her relationship with Tyla.
She described the South African diva as her “home girl” and her “G.”
She said, “Tyla is my homegirl, that’s my G. That doesn’t bother me at all. I don’t care about all of that. Less noise, more music.
“Let’s support each other, like, why not, like Afrobeats and African music is about to take over the world and we have to come together to be able to do that. There’s no need for comparisons.”
