(HOLLYWOOD, June 05, 2011) – In recent times, African Cinema has been receiving a lot of international appeal after a temporary silence. International filmmakers who have for a long time searched for niche have discovered the cinematic appeal of the dramatic African continent; shooting with high budgets, the latest Hollywood technology and Hollywood stars; Not to be left out of the new wave is international filmmaker Leila Djansi.

Here is a sneak peak of the much anticipated international drama Ties That Bind starring Diary of a Mad Black Woman star Kimberly Elise, Randall Batinkoff, Omotola Jolade Ekeinde, AMAA best Actress for 2011 Ama Abebrese, Ebbe Bassey and John Dumelo.

The international star studded drama, shot on location in Ghana, West Africa with additional scenes filmed in Los Angeles County California tells the ensemble story of three women from different backgrounds, bound together by a common tragedy; the loss of a child. In a destined meeting in a small West African village, the women journey together to redemption, love, life and forgiveness as they renovate a haunted, dilapidated clinic for the villagers.

Directed and Directed by BAFTA/LA recipient Leila Djansi, the film follows Djansi’s mission to tell social issue stories that will encourage change. Watching a documentary on adoption in her home country Ghana and having grown up to realize that adoption is not a culture among her fellow Africans, the director decided to tell a story that deals with child loss in the African culture, the effect is has on the women and societies reaction to such women.

Hollywood stars Randall Batinkoff and the amazing Kimberly Elise, moved by the story bring international flavor and appeal to this much anticipated drama.

The production is keeping a tight lip on when the actual release is going to be. But sources are predicting January 2012. Yours truly will find out if we can get a real date of release because we can’t wait to see another masterpiece.
