Nigeria most respected cinemas, Silverbird Uyo, is currently facing a lawsuit of 10 million naira after being sued by prolific filmmaker, Okechukwu Oku.
Okechukwu had an agreement with the establishment regarding his latest project, ‘The Boss is mine’ which was breached.
According to the filmmaker, on the set date of the movie premiere in early 2016, all guests was set and ready but the cinema failed to produce the necessary electricity to power the cinema.
From 3pm to 9pm, it was said that the situation was still the same and as at that time, all guest had disappeared, leaving him in an embarrassing situation.

In his words: ““I was embarrassed to say the least. Everybody we expected was present. We were all seated by 3pm, expecting the film to come on when the lights went out. When we approached the management of the cinema, they told us that their generator was faulty. This lingered on till 9pm. By then, the guests had left”
The filmmaker had allegedly taken this legal fight against the organization after their refusal to settle with him amicably.
