The membership of Modupe Alakija, husband of one-time Africa’s richest woman, Folorunsho Alakija has been suspended by the prestigious Ikoyi Club.
Alakija, was suspended for assaulting a fellow member.
This time, Alakija’s victim is described as a prominent member of the club. He attracted the anger of the oil and gas boss for being rude, as his action drew Alakija’s ire.
The Capital reports that “Alakija reportedly accosted his victim then stunned him with a blinding slap in a manner only Anthony Joshua would deal blows on an opponent. Still smarting from the scathing slap, the man responded and attacked Alakija with ferocity, who least expected it.
Before long, the man was on the floor being pummeled on all sides. By the time he was extricated from Alakija’s vicious grip, he had been to hell and back and sucking for air where there wasn’t.
The development thus led to Alakija’s suspension for one year for engaging in such gross misconduct unbecoming of a man of his social standing.
Efforts to reach the billionaire for his reaction to the development proved futile as his mobile line was not reachable as at press time.
