Seun Kuti queries colleagues’ wealth
Nigerian singer and activist, Seun Kuti, has described the wealth of some of his colleagues in the music industry as sudden.
Kuti, who suggested that the Nigerian music industry is not as lucrative as it is made to look, queried the sources of wealth of his colleagues.
In an Instagram live session, the maverick singer doubted the possibility that the enormous wealth being displayed by some of his colleagues was made from singing.
Additionally, he said despite touring for 20 years, he is yet to complete his first house but wondered how artists with less than two hit songs are wealthier than him.
Kuti said, “I have been touring for over 20 years, and I’m only just building my first house. Where is the music money coming from? Musician never get two songs, he don buy Lamborghini and G-wagon. Where’s this music money coming from?”
In recent times, more Nigerian artists have come out to boast about the lucrativeness of the music industry.
