Embattled Lagos film maker Seun Egbegbe has had his fair share of media attention lately. Rightly so, because of his latest alleged attempt to defraud a Bureau De Change operator money in the region of 10 million naira as well as the resumption of his February 8 court case regarding his reported failed attempt to steal 9 iPhones at the famous Computer Village in Ikeja last year.
And for all his pains, the lanky Ogun State indigene has gotten himself the ‘honour’of making the list of top searches on Google Trends Nigeria with over 5,000 searches! Applause or Boo?
Interestingly too, most of the other notable personalities who made the list for the week in review, February 1 through 8, as revealed by Google Communications and Public Affairs Manager, Anglophone West Africa, Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, have some form of negative vibes about them. They include Buhari, of whom there has been a lot of media buzz regarding his general well-being. There was Ibori too, who just only came back from London after doing time for theft in the UK. And there’s 2face Idibia who led and fled the #IStandWithNigeria protest.
Certainly not the kind of ‘achievement’ anyone would wish for, Egbegbe’s Google Trends mention should inspire him to turn a new leaf and try rewrite his own story. How? Because the bottom-line of the many searches is that people cared enough to know more about his story. These are not just clicks on news links that carry his name, they are actual searches via google’s ubiquitous search engine with his name typed on the search bar.
Egbegbe has been in police custody since his latest thievery ordeal and as a result couldn’t appear in court for his iPhones theft case 2 days ago, The case was adjourned to April. Stay close for details on the Bureau De Change court arraignment processes.
