Former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro has been released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission .
Obanikoro had been in EFCC custody since October 17th when he returned from the United States to account for multiple charges of corruption and diversion of funds during his time as minister under the administration of Goodluck Jonathan.
According to the EFCC, he received N4.7bn through the Office of the National Security Advisor in 2014.He was said to have kept the sum of N785m while the balance was given to Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State and Senator Iyiola Omisore who was the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State in 2014.
