Popular comedian, Basketmouth has reacted to Bishop David Oyedepo’s comment about tithing which ignited a controversy on social media earlier today.
Bishop David O. Oyedepo, founder of Winners’ Chapel International came under fire for saying prosperity is impossible without tithing and anyone not paying his under a financial curse.
On Thurday, Bishop Oyedepo took to his social media page where he wrote;
“Tithing is an inescapable covenant obligation. Prosperity not just wealth is impossible without tithing, because when you’re not paying your tithe, you’re under a financial curse.”
Reacting to this, Basketmouth stated that the church is now threatening people with financial curse over tithe in a bad economy.
This didn’t sit well with Basketmouth who wondered why such a curse should be effective in a time that the country is facing a terrible economy.
He shared: “THIS LIFE NO BALANCE AT ALL!! The Govt will threaten us with prosecution if we don’t pay our TAX & VAT. The CHURCH will now threaten us with a FINANCIAL CURSE if you don’t pay your TITHE! Inside the TERRIBLE ECONOMY? With the LEVEL OF UNEMPLOYMENT? ABEG”.
