Over the weekend, Sammdebby Music Organisation celebrated its 10th anniversary at the University of Lagos main auditorium. At the event, about 700 students from various schools in and outside Lagos gathered to celebrate with the group.
The event was packaged by the organisation in partnership with Chevron Recreation Club, Gbagada, as an avenue for students from different schools to display their skills on the various music instruments and also to interacting with each other.
Speaking during the occasion, President of Chevron Recreation Club, Gbagada, Mr Olayiwola Adeniji, explained why his group supported the programme. According to him, the show was a platform to bring parents and the children together in a relaxed atmosphere.
Shina Obashola, founder of Sammdebby, while expressing his satisfaction over the large turnout of schools at this year’s event, explained that the event is also to help discover God’s given talents in the participants.

He noted that though education is very key to the growth of every child, not every child can succeed academically.
Obashola said further that Sammdebby as an organisation is not out to extort money from people but to help the kids discover their talents in music.
He advised parents to allow their wards to pick up any profession of their choice, especially music, which he said is life.
“Now parents are beginning to appreciate what music can do even in education because it is not all about Maths and English. I am a professional accountant, I went to school to study accounting, but because of the passion I have for music, I believe that music can make way even more than these so-called courses,” Obashola said.
