It was leant that a gang of robbers have stolen the N3.5 million naira bonus meant for the Warri wolves Players on Friday.
The officials of the club were waylaid when they were returning from the bank after withdrawal.
The spokesman of the club Azuka Chiamaka was one of the victims of the attack. According to a source, “The incident happened last week Friday, but they have been trying to prevent the information from spreading,”
“The officials had left the bank opposite Urhobo College, and were so close to Peabody Hotels, in Uvwie local government area, when they were attacked. The players lodged in the hotel.
“The attackers were said to be dressed in military uniform.”
Chiamaka refused to give any comment on the issue. But Celestina Kalu, spokeswoman of the Delta state police command, confirmed the incident, and said investigation was ongoing.
