The fourth edition of the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) kicked off on Sunday, November 9, 2014 in Calabar, Cross River State and was witnessed by some top dignitaries.
Wife of the Governor of Cross River State, Mrs. Obioma Imoke and Minister of Tourism and Culture, Chief Edem Duke, were at the Calabar Cultural Centre, venue of the event to witness it.
Also at the occasion were Thelma Ojiji, Mbong Amata, Rita Dominic, Kate Henshaw, Ihuoma Nwigwe and many others.
Speaking at the glamorous opening ceremony, Mrs. Imoke noted that the hosting of the festival in Calabar for the second time in a row was a clear indication that the goal of making Cross River a tourism destination in Africa was fast becoming a reality.
Edem Duke, while acknowledging the hard work of film practitioners, urged them to project Africa to the rest of the world in positive light, giving credence to the rich cultures and traditions of the continent.
