Team Nigeria has set new record at the ongoing Rio 2016 Paralympic Games as two of their team members won two medals on Friday.
Latifat Tijani won a silver medal in women’s power lifting while Ronaldo Ezuruike,the 40-years-old lifted 200kg in the men’s -54kg weight class in the Powerlifting event.
Ezurike who weighs 51.73kg, went further in his second lift as he extended the record by 5kg with a lift of 190kg breaking the paralympic record of 185kg. His final lift of 200kg gave him a very loud cheer from the crowd as he entered the record books.
The Chinese representative identified as Jian Wang won silver with a lift of 170 kg, while Dimitros Bakochristos of Greece won bronze with 162kg.
