A new found tomato tree known as “octopus tomato tree” has been discovered.
The tree has the capacity of growing from a single tomato vine spreading on a large fencing and yielding thousands of tomatoes every season
Although it looks very much like a tree but it is not a tree at all. The tree is said to have entered the Guinness book of record for the largest harvest from a single plant producing up to 32,000 tomatoes with a total weight of 522 kg with the square crown reaching 40-50 square metres in size.
The octopus tree is presently on exhibit at Walt Disney World Resort, Epcot, Florida, United States of America.
A careful study of the tomato tree reveals that within the first 7-8 months, it yield no fruits but once it is the maturity stage, it will produce not less than 14,000 tomatoes on the average. And it takes 1.2 – 1.5 years to reach their remarkable size.
