The Delta state police command has arrested a popular radio preacher and founder of Gospel Fire Army Ministry, Chinedu Strongson in Nkwele-Ogidi area of Anambra State in connection with child kidnapping and trafficking.
Strongson was arrested alongside other members of the syndicate and was paraded on Saturday, September 10, at the police headquarters in Asaba, Delta state.
Confirming the report was the state police commissioner, Zana Ibrahim who disclosed that 12 children were found in his custody. It was gathered that he paid the sum of 400,000 for each child sold to him.
The 48-years-old cleric denied the accusation by saying that he was only involved in humanitarian service of paying the school fees of the children.
The gang was exposed when one Aisha Yahaya narrated her encounter with two ladies who claimed to be police officers sent by her husband serving time at Ogwashi Uku prisons.
She followed them to a junction where they met one Abigail Nwakama, aka Madam Cash who gave her N3, 500 to care for her baby. Surprisingly, the trio stole her child. She began to raise alarm which attracted a lot of people and the women were arrested.
Ibrahim said that the suspects revealed the identities of the members of their syndicate and they were all arrested. They include: Ifeoma Anyadike, Onyinye Nwakama, David Ikesinachi; Ebere Edwin, Adaeze Enyi and Chike Agwunenu.
He furthered that two of the children were reunited with their parents while others that are yet to be identified their parents were taken to an orphanage in Asaba until their parents come to claim them.
