Photo from World Acclaimed Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde awarded the prestigious Ebony Vanguard Award.

From the WISE event (World Innovation Summit on Education) in Qatar Doha where she was an invited guest speaker alongside former Australia Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, Omotola and her team jetted into the UK for the MVISA Awards night at the ICC conference centre in Birmingham United Kingdom.

As Nollywood turned 20, seasoned actress and one of the pioneers of Nollywood was honoured with the most prestigious award of the Night at the 7th Birmingham International Film Festival’s MVISA Award hosted by Actor, Chukky Venn and Actress, Lorna Laidlaw.

Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde whose acting career started in 1995 and has taken Nollywood to lofty heights internationally was awarded the EBONY VANGUARD AWARD in the presence of an array of British leading stars, veteran actors and filmmakers. In attendance were casts of EastEnders, Holby City and the TV soap, Doctors; Ellen Thomas, Hugh Quarshie, Rudolph Walker, Chizzy Akudolu, Wil Johnson , Jimmy Akingbola to name a few.

Omosexy elegant in her Roooi couture dress amidst thunderous claps gracefully accepted her award. Thanking Nollywood for producing and supporting her career and dedicated the award to God, her family, Directors and adoring fans. Dean Alexander, founder of the festival and Award said: “Omotola is not only one of the most influential people in the world, she is indeed one of the Most inspiring” it is our pleasure to celebrate this unique personality here in the UK.

One of UK’s most prestigious events in the entertainment calendar, the Night was full of glamour and lived up to all expectations.
