There have been series reactions to the arrest of some netizens who allegedly bullied Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham.
The thespian involved the police to arrest the trolls who cursed her for supporting President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 general election.
Abraham was one of the Nollywood stakeholders who threw their weight behind President Bola Tinubu during the last presidential election.
However, since the hardship that followed Tinubu’s inauguration, Abraham has lost her goodwill in the social space.
A X.com user, who identified as #YVRLO, directed harsh comments towards Abraham and her family, including wishing harm to her son.
This led Abraham to take legal action. “It is not an abuse of power; it’s a fight against cyberbullying,” Abraham’s spokesman said. “Everyone must understand that actions have consequences, especially online.”
Recently, another X user, who identified as #Ayo, accused Abraham of using Tinubu’s money to do a hair transplant for her husband.
He wrote, “Mrs @Toyin_Abraham walai aiye e ti ta!! (sic) You collect Tinubu money use fo hair transplant for your husband…stoopid fool.”
Following the allegation, the actress contacted the cybercrime unit of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) who in turn arrested the suspect.
His arrest has continued to generate but pats and knocks for the actress.
Following that, a user, Ajebo Danny, wrote, “Hello @Toyin_Abraham, you will have to send the police to pick all of us. You are shameless.”
One Bayo Otedola said, “Dear @elonmusk, I hope you can see what @toyin_abraham1 has done to people using your platform for free speech. I hope you’re aware that she uses the Nigerian Police force to arrest innocent citizens. Or is free speech not a thing anymore? #FreeAyo.”
Another user, Taiwo Ade wrote, “There must always be a consequence for every statement you face online and offline, let him defend his words.”
“She didn’t intimidate anybody with the police. She reported to the cyber crime department and they picked them up for questioning. I don’t like Toyin but insulting her husband and threatening to kill her son deserves arrest,” Edidong Paul Friday wrote.
One Iniobong Udoh said, “Instead of Toyin to save money that she’ll use to produce her low budget movies and compete with Funke like it’s her way, she’s using the little money she’s got to carry police and intimidate people. She go soon jam her match.”
Madukaku Adaeze, commented online saying, “They are reporting her on netflix and every streaming platform…she will learn 😂😂😂” (sic)
“It seems you have a personal hatred for her. Which one is low budget movies? I hope when another person make such comments to you will like it,” were the words of Ufearoh Chidinma.
