The world cup was not a feast for striker Osaze Odemwingie as coach Lar Lagerback rarely gave him a chance to play the three group stage matches. NFF official say it was because he [Osaze] was a bad influence on the team and refusal to follow Lar Lagerback’s tactical instructions.
There also seem to be conflict between Super eagles striker Osaze Odemwingie and the captain Nwankwo Kanu following the super eagles’ exit from the world cup.
Nigerian team finished at the bottom of group B behind the Argentines, S. Korean and Greek team. Sources close to the players tell German Press Agency that Osaze took a swipe at Kanu’s captaincy – Kanu would rather want to stay in the good books of the Nigeria Football Federation before the interest of the players.
He also lamblasted the deputy captain Joseph Yobo for concealing an injury so he could play, calling him ‘unprofessional’. Yobo quit the final match against S. Korea due to a groin injury.
A shouting match was also reported after the game against Greece where Osaze blasted both captains and the NFF
