MC Acapella is one of the fastest rising comedians in the industry with more prospects to excel and grow.
Nigeriafilms.com caught up with him at the premiere of AY’s movie debut; 30 Days in Atlanta and popped the trending question of celebrities crossing over to politics which has become the order of the day.
Accepella would you join politics anytime soon? we asked.
“No! Not at all. I’m still very relevant in the entertainment industry. Maybe I will join politics when ‘I reign go’. That’s what is trending now; once a celebrity starts losing relevance, then he or she runs into politics. Apart from Desmond Eliot, others have lost their places in the industry. I don’t know where Blackface is, he should have joined them. DBanj too might be forced into their midst, if care is not taken (Laughs). Anyways, I’m not going into politics, I don’t even like it at all.”
He also explained why comedians are always caught in the act of repeating same jokes constantly.
“We need to protect our jokes because they are not easy to come by. You’d crack your brain to get a joke then once you tell it to the audience, another person picks it and personalities it. So we tell it over and over again to different audience in different places to make them understand that we are the originator of the joke. Besides, how come you guys don’t complain when music artistes sing same songs at different shows? Comedians are also allowed to do so, to be a good comedian is not easy after all,” he said.
