Following the report published in a national daily that Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha of Imo state is manipulating the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, OYC for his own selfish purpose, the body has claimed ignorance of being involved.
The report quoted the OYC national President, Mazi Okechukwu Iziguzoro as saying that the reason Okorocha built the Ohanaeze secretariat in Enugu was to take control of the apex-Igbo body.
Meanwhile Iziguzoro has come out to debunk the report saying that he never granted any journalist any interview.
According to him, “The story is not only false but geared to tarnish the image of Ohanaeze Youth Council.
“There was never a time I Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro , the President of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council made such a statement nor speak to the correspondent who carried the story to that effect. It was a figment of his imagination.
“It is pure jungle journalism geared to ruffle feathers and cause disaffection in Igbo land. It is a grand design by enemies of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council to create tension and confusion in the polity.
He furthered that although Rochas is building a magnificent secretariat for Ndigbo at the Ohanaeze Ndigbo National Headquarters but does not have an ulterior motive for doing that, he advised the Ndi Igbos and Rochas not to take into account of the report because it is false.
