Nigerian deadly striker who is renowned for his speed and shot power will miss the 2018 world cup in Russia if he was even considered by Coach Gernot Rohr.
The former inter Milan man sustained an injury which will be sidelining him for 6 to 7 months.
The 33 years old picked up the injury while playing for his Chinese club side Shanghai Shenhua FC during the Asian Champions League clash against Kashima Antlers on Tuesday which ended in a 2-2 draw.
Martins is the club’s highest goal scorer in the current season with 3 goals from only one appearance.
Shanghai Shenhua announced that he has flown to the UK to undergo surgery to help battle his injury Quadriceps Tendon Rupture.
They made the announcement today on Twitter saying; “Martins is flying to UK for surgery today. Be well soon.”
Obafemi Martins is set to be expected back at the ending of October if he will recover faster, his world cup dreams has been shattered.
