NURTW boss, Koko Zaria assaulted me because I didn’t ‘recognise’ him – Nollywood actor, Lawori

Veteran Yoruba actor, Ibrahim Bello Sanya, popularly known as Baba Lawori, has accused a chieftain of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Ganiyu Oyedepo, popularly known as Koko Zaria, of assaulting him for not giving him a special recognition at a recent event.

Narrating his ordeal on Monday, the thespian said he was discharging his duty as a MC at the 2024 Idimu Day event on Tuesday, June 25, when he was attacked.

“Please save me from Koko Zaria, I do not know my offence to him.

“While doing my work as an MC, a man came on the stage to tell me that Koko Zaria is calling me. As I went to meet him, he asked why I didn’t recognize his presence. I apologized and said I didn’t know that he was at the event, and I promised to do the needful when I returned to the stage.

“As I turned back to the stage, a man who came with Koko Zaria took a bottle of Martell (in front of Koko Zaria and his guys) and broke it on my head.

“I was wet with my own blood as I lost consciousness due to the attack,” he cried out in a video uploaded on Instagram.

Meanwhile, Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi has said the force would probe an allegation.
