The positive momentum was sustained on the trading floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday with the market closing 0.41percent higher.

 

The All-Share Index (ASI) extended its gains by 135.18 points to settle at 33,436.61 points, pushing the YTD Return to 24.42 percent.

Furthermore, the market capitalisation grew by N46.6 billion to finish at N11.52 trillion as the market breadth close positive with 25 gainers against 19 losers.

Business Post reports that Nestle closed for the day as the highest gainer after adding N16 to its share price to end at N920 per share.

It was trailed by Beta Glass, which progressed by N2.70k to finish at N57.47k per share, and Okomu Oil, which went up by N2.62k to close at N63 per share.

Unilever appreciated by N1.81k to settle at N38.19k per share, while Nigerian Breweries advanced by N1.73k to close at N159.11k per share.

Conversely, Forte Oil led the losers’ chart today with N2.54k loss to finish at N57.96k per share, while Cadbury fell by 56k to end at N12 per share.

Zenith Bank lost 42k to close at N21.53k per share, Custodian & Allied Plc slumped by 17k to settle at N3.40k per share, and May & Baker declined by 14k to end at N2.65k per share.

UBA was investors’ toast today with 2.1 billion shares traded at N19.8 billion.

It was closely followed by Continental Reinsurance, which sold 174 million units valued at N219.8 million, and First Bank, which exchanged 35.5 million shares worth N208.5 million.

Oando traded 13.6 million shares valued at N90 million, while Skye Bank exchanged 9.3 million units worth N5.6 million.

In all, investors exchanged a total of 2.4 billion shares valued at N21.6 billion shares executed in 3,715 deals.
