Yoruba actor Adebayo Salami, but fondly called Oga Bello is a renowned thespian that has spanned over a decade in Nigeria Movie industry.
Aside acting, he is also a movie producer and a director who has contributed positively to the growth of the industry.
He son, Femi Adebayo is also an exceptional actor who made name for himself without leveraging on his father’s popularity.
Unlike some of his colleagues, Oga Bello doesn’t feature in English speaking movies and many were of the opinion that it could be as a result of him not been fluent in English speaking.
However, he cleared the air in a recent interview were he disclosed that he can express himself in English.
Speaking more he made a shocking revelation that he would rather pick a Yoruba script for 200,000 naira than pick an English movie of a million.
In his words: “Well, I cannot speak for those people that did not invite me, they have their personal reasons and I don’t want to go into it so much but I am sure if am invited I can express myself and I can interpret roles in English. I don’t normally participate in English films like Jide Kosoko does, but I must confess to you, if you come to me and you want to pay 1 million naira for a film, and I have another script of Yoruba movie that wants to pay me N200,000, I prefer to go for Yoruba film. No harm meant by that, Yoruba is my language, and it is my culture I want to promote the most.”
