Veteran thespian, Ambassador Olusegun Olusola, has said that the current steps being taken by the Coalition of Nollywood Guilds & Associations, CONGA, will go a long way in helping the Nigerian movie industry solve its pertinent problems and subsequently rule the world.
Speaking at the MOU signing ceremony of CONGA at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, the highly respected thespian described the decision by various guilds and associations that make up Nollywood as a welcome idea that will take the motion picture industry and Nigeria at large to the promised land.
According to Ambassador Olusola, if the practitioners can strictly adhere to the aims of CONGA, the sky will be the starting point for Nollywood. He thereby called on the government to give its maximum support to the industry.
“If all these things fall in place, there is no doubt that Nollywood will rule the world. But I will just implore everybody to remain focused and dedicated,” he said.
The Nollywood guilds and associations that signed the MOU which is targeted at solving the industry’s problems include Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Association of Movie Producers (AMP), Creative Designers Guild of Nigeria (CDGN), Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN) and Film and Video Producers and Marketers Association of Nigeria (FVPMAN).
Others are Nigerian Society of Cinematographers (NSC) and Screen Writers Guild of Nigeria (SWGN).
Anchored by Stella Damasus-Nzeribe and Keppy Ekpeyong, movie stars that added spice and glamour to the event include Fred Amata, Monalisa Chinda, Kunle Afolayan, Teco Benson, Omoni Oboli, Segun Arinze and Paul Obazele to mention a few.
