As the crisis in Jos, the Plateau State capital, continues to be an issue of major concern to Nigerians, popular actors in the nation’s movie industry, Nollywood, have come together with the aim of bringing lasting peace to the state with a project: Save Our Plateau.
The aim of the project, according to the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Segun Arinze, is to initiate peace, reconciliation and reconstruction, through entertainment.
“Towards this end, we shall record an all-star one-track musical rendition and produce a star-studded, world class film and TV serial, using their content to drive home our message of peace, reconciliation and reconstruction.
“We would also pay condolence visits to Plateau and donate a percentage of money realised from the entertainment projects to families of the victims,” Arinze promised.
The single will be produced by Sammie Okposo, while actors like Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Genevieve Nnaji, Stella Damasus-Nzeribe, Ramsey Noah and Kanayo. O. Kanayo among others will feature in the movie and TV serial. Tuface Idibia will be the only musician in it.
According to Arinze, the song will feature Tuface because he is a musician that has also appeared in a couple of movies.
They have written the Acting President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, seeking his support to enable them actualize the project.
