Nollywood mourns the death of Shina Sanyaolu

The movie industry of Nigeria, Nollywood has been thrown into mourning following the death of actor and movie producer Shina Sanyaolu.

The demise of the veteran was made known by his colleague, Bolaji Amusan aka Mr Latin who wrote on his Instagram, “Sleep well Uncle Shina Sanyaolu”.

Also, Sanyaolu’s death was confirmed by media personality, Doyin Ola, who shared a photo of herself and the deceased with the caption, “It’s hard to believe that just two years ago, this picture from an industry event was sent to me by Mr. Sam Anwuzia on August 20th, 2024, and I was holding onto it to eventually share with you. Then, I read the sad news today on our TAMPAN UK platform that you passed away.”

Ola added that although they weren’t very close, they met several times in professional and social settings.

“I’ve always regarded you as a talented filmmaker—easygoing and receptive to people. It’s heartbreaking. May your soul rest in peace, Egbon Shina Sanyaolu The film industry has truly lost a rare gem,” she noted.

Journalist Jimi Akinniyi expressed heartbreak concisely. “Absolutely and Completely Unbelievable that you’re gone. Rest In Peace Shina Sanyaolu,” he wrote.
