Troops deployed to Maiduguri the Borno state capital has rescued 43 persons kidnapped by Boko Haram militants in Mafa local government area on Sunday.
According to Major Salisu Mustapha of the 7 division of Nigerian Army, he said the incident took place at Dalakalari village.
The troop also rescued 500 Cows the Boko Haram sects took from their victims.
Mustapha said that when information that the sects abducted some cattle rearers on gunpoint was brought to them, they swung into action immediately.“Some well meaning people informed the military who swung into action and pursued the terrorists.”
“The terrorists, sensing danger, abandoned the livestock just before Panamri village and ran away.”
He stated that the people who were rescued along with their cattles have been handed over to the local authorities.
