Over several hours, at every given interval it was a non-stop cheery applause from the audience – the gentle men of the press and individuals alike. The globally acclaimed television reality Idol is here in Nigeria for the first time. Amid cheers and idolable ambience, the Nigerian Idol crew consisting of local and international professionals were unveiled at the Sheraton Hotel in Lagos on Tuesday (September 21).
Raw talents will be smoked out of their obscurity in Lagos, Abuja, Enugu, Calabar and environs. They will be sieved, refined, finetuned until they metamorphose into stars, and super-stars in eventual.
African-American dancer, singer and former Michael Jackson’s personal chereograpger, Jeffrey Daniel is leading the Nigerian Idol judges team that also includes veteran singer Yinka Davies and the British Council award winner Audu Maikori of Chocolate City Entertainment – the record label that houses Djinee, Jeremiah Gyang, M.I and Jesse Jagz.
However, hosting the Etisalat sponsored debut edition of Nigerian Idol is Yemisi ‘Misi’ Fajimolu, a Lagos based radio presenter. She will be taking the audiences through the show per episode.
The producers of the show, Optima Media Group (OMG) have promised a show not short of thrills, intrigues and undiluted drama.
