American researchers from the Department of Environmental and Inter-Disciplinary Services at the Texas Southern University in Houston have provided evidence that SAABFAT6, a Nigerian-C2-herbal drug may prevent the growth of cancer cells. The herbal product, SAABFAT6, listed by NAFDAC and produced by a Nigerian phytho-medicinal researcher in collaboration with Halamin Herbal Centre, was the focus of a recent study at the US Research Centre.

The researche Syntia Ekwende and Momoh Yakubu said E2-80-9CSAABFAT6 shows that cancer, a dreadful disease that has been tormenting humans, can succumb to the power of researched drug combinations from the herbal centre.

Unveiling the research report, the anti-proliferative and cytotoxic evaluation of herbal supplement SAABFAT6 on HT29 Colorectal Adenocarcinoma Cells=E2=80=9D in Abuja yesterday, the drug manufacturer, Pharmacist Ben Amodu said the consumption of herbal supplements has been one of the remedies for several aliments, including cancer, for a longtime.Click:Impeachment Threat: I am ready to negotiate with APC lawmakers — Fayose

This preliminary result indicated that SAABFAT6 supplement may have a potential for the regulation of HT29 growth and survival. Further study is required to identify the mechanism by which the anti- proliferative and cytotoxic effects of SAABFAT-6 is mediated, the researchers said earlier in his remarks

Amodu, who is also the director and chief researcher of the centre, disclosed that similar researches were carried out in the Nigerian Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Development, which, according to him, showed that his product combination has remedy for cancer.

The phytho-medicinal researcher added that his products when taken to America had been found to prevent the growth of cancer cells by 75 per cent in lung, colon and pancreatic cancers.
