Nigerian content creators churn out poor-quality content – Emeka Darlington
Nigerian actor, Emeka Darlington has claimed that content creators in the country churn out content that is low in quality.
According to the content creator, it is the reason why the industry is described as saturated by a lot of Nigerians who are subjected to low-standard content.
In a recent interview, the actor said, “The industry seems saturated because there is a lot of poor-quality content. If the content were up to standard, it wouldn’t be called ‘saturated’. Money is the driving force for some content creators, and I don’t blame anyone.”
Darlington added, “Once people see someone has bought a car or a house, they don’t know what that person did to get to that stage. Now, we have too many content creators and fewer people watching.”
Darlington elaborated on the flexibility that content creation offers compared to traditional acting, noting, “When you’re acting, you’re at the producer’s mercy. They decide what they feel you can do. Casting is largely based on looks, and that’s why you often see people playing the same roles repeatedly because they fit the part. Content creation, on the other hand, allows you to be flexible. Today, I can play the role of an Igbo guy, and tomorrow, I can play a local character.
“It’s now up to you to say no at some point, especially if you’re looking to try something new.”
