The Super Eaglets of Nigeria, today, clinched the FIFA Under 17 World Cup in Dubai, in the United Arabs Emirates. The young Nigerian lads beat their opponent, Mexico by three goals to nil.
The Mexicans dominated play in the first six minutes but a counter attack by Nigeria in the ninth minute resulted into an own goal by a Mexican defender, Erick Germain Aguirre Tafolla.
Nigeria went ahead to make it two when Kelechi Iheanacho slotted in a shot parried by the Mexican goalkeeper from Musa Abubakar’s shot from the right corner of the field.
A free-kick in the 81st minute from about 25 metres from post by the captain, Musa Abubakar ensured that the Mexican stopped fighting for an equaliser.
With this win, it is now the fourth title for Nigeria, all won in Asia.
