Mercy Johnson To Kevwe Ogunje: Young Nollywood Actors Are Lucky, We Suffered When We Started
It was a dream come true for UK returnee and TV presenter Kevwe Ogunje when he featured alongside Mercy Johnson Okojie.
The TV presenter who just finished on set of Chika Andrea’s latest flick “Supreme Court Of Humour” said he never believed he was acting alongside Mrs Okojie.
Here is what he told TS Weekender yesterday about his personal encounter with the Nollywood actress:
“I never believed I would ever star alongside Mercy Johnson. I did a project with her late last year. However, we already met in the UK where I interviewed her on the Red Carpet of a movie premiere. A couple of years later, I was in Nigeria for a shoot and guess what, Mercy Johnson was on that set and that just blew me out of my mind! So, I went to her and reminded her that we met in the UK and she was like ‘hey, see my people and that was the ice breaker’.
How did Ogunje feel acting alongside Mercy Johnson? Hear him: “It was great. I felt good and proud.
I kept looking at her and was like ‘no be Mercy Johnson wey I dey see for TV be this? We go die together for here!’ But I remember also telling her in London that if I could be in one scene with her, I don blow !
“The only thing Mercy did was advise me on humility. She did not say it personally but she kept saying that ‘the young ones today are lucky. When we started we suffered. Today, it is easy because of social media that can take you from zero to hero at just one click. So please, always be humble and be of good cheer, because your humility and your good attitude will speak for you where talent doesn’t.”
