One Ahmed Isah has been jailed by FCT Upper Area Court for stealing cars in both Abuja and its vicinity.
A.O Urom, the prosecuting counsel told the court that the 33-year-old man was arrested on by one of the police patrol officer on July 2 at Area 10 Garki, Abuja.
Urom furthered that three master keys were discovered in possession of the suspect during police investigation.
Isah belonged to a gang of thieves who specialized in stealing cars with the use of master keys in and around Abuja.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges. The Prosecutor prayed the court to try the convict summarily in pursuance to section 112(8) of the Administration of the Criminal Justice Act, 2015.
The presiding judge Umar Yusuf Kargako sentenced the convict to eight weeks imprisonment having pleaded guilty to the one count charge of car theft, an offence that is contrary to sections 319A and 306 of the penal code law.
