The Lagos State University has demoted a Professor, Olatunji Abanikannda to a senior lecturer over alleged lack of qualification.
The demotion was confirmed by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Olanrewaju Fagbohun in a chat with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Fagbohun said the University management demoted the professor on the recommendation of the governing council.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) LASU chapter had filed a petition alleging that the former Vice-Chancellor, John Obafunwa, promoted the lecturer without due process.
Some members of staff had also reportedly lodged the same complain.
A five-man panel was inaugurated to investigate the allegations.
The panel after several investigations, recommended the demotion of Abanikannda.
Abanikannda was the immediate past Director, LASU External System (part-time programme).
