The wave of rewards and appreciation seems to be flowing towards the entertainment industry on a high scale as most acts in the music and movies world are bagging endorsement deals that are bringing smiles upon the faces of the acts.
New York Film Academy graduate, Kunle Afolayan, has joined the latest set of acts to be blessed as his new film, ‘October 1′ has been on a distribution deal with one of the largest online media streaming providers, Netflix.
Afolayan, excited about the development, confirmed at his Ikeja office that the deal includes the rights to subtitle the movie into 10 other languages.
“I am happy and delighted to announce that October 1 has gotten a deal with Netflix. Netflix covers the whole of Europe and America. That means the film will be exposed to the word”.
“It is a distribution deal. Netflix is an SVOD platform, an online platform that you can watch on your television. Their application is everywhere. They are one of the most recognised SVOD platforms around the word.”
He revealed that the film, October 1, will be joining the films to be screened at 23rd Pan-African Film Festival in February at Los Angeles.
Afolayan also informed that It has also been selected for the Luxor Film Festival in Egypt.
October 1 is a film that received one of the highest nominations (13) Africa Magic Viewrs’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) in the top categories that include the Best Movie (Drama), Best Movie of 2014, Best Art Director, Best Actress and Best Cinematographer. It also won at the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) in Best Feature Film, Best Actor and Best Screen Play categories.
The film featured veteran broadcaster, Sadiq Daba, actress Kehinde Bankole, Kanayo O. Kanayo and Kunle Afolayan and other A-list acts.
