As wife returns to LA
Kanye West has reportedly been been hospitalised and put under observation after police officers in Los Angeles responded to a medical welfare call.
NBC News reported no criminal activity was involved, and the decision to hospitalise the rapper was made for his own health and safety.
The call to police was made at 1.20pm local time, but earlier on Monday West announced plans to pull the plug on his Saint Pablo Tour just days after making comments onstage about how he “would have voted for Donald Trump” and also cancelling a show and ending another after just four songs.
On Saturday, West’s concert in Sacramento, California, which he ended early, became a topic of hot conversation on social media as videos circulated of a 10-minute rant by the rapper about Beyonce, Jay Z, Hillary Clinton, Mark Zuckerberg, the radio and MTV.
On Friday, during a concert in San Jose, California, West said he did not vote but would have cast a ballot for Trump, praising the president-elect’s “method of communication” as “very futuristic”.
A representative for West confirmed the remaining 21 dates of the tour had been cancelled and no reason was given, but Live Nation said tickets would be “fully refunded at point of purchase”.
Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian was flying to New York for a celebrity gala honouring her late father Robert Kardashian – but turned around and flew back to LA after learning her husband Kanye West was suffering a medical emergency and was hospitalised.
On Monday Kim had boarded a private jet for her first public appearance following her traumatic Paris robbery. She was scheduled to appear at The Angel Ball, hosted by Denise Rich, along with her mother Kris Jenner and sisters Khloe and Kourtney at Cipriani Wall Street. Monday night’s black tie gala was honouring Robert Kardashian, the famed attorney, who died of cancer in 2003.
But sources said Kim had landed in New York when she learned that Kanye was suffering some kind of medical emergency. Police were sent to him to perform a “welfare check” and officers called paramedics who transported Kanye to hospital.
A source told Page Six, “Kim was seen boarding a private jet to New York at around 5am LA time and had planned to make a late entrance to the gala, skipping the red carpet, to honour her father.
“But when she landed in New York, something was very wrong with Kanye, she turned around and headed straight back to LA to be at his side.”
Kris Jenner, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian still appeared at the glamorous New York event, and while declining interviews, they continued to film for their reality show.
