Jim Iyke sparks reactions with comment on fatherhood

Nollywood star, Jim Iyke has got the internet buzzing with comments with the disclosure of his stand on how only a child’s father genuinely wants the child to succeed more than he did.

In a recent interview, the actor opined that while other people may compete with someone, the only man not in competition is a father.

Jim Iyke emphasised that a father’s prayers and desires for his children’s success surpass those of other male figures, including friends and relatives.

He said, “The only man on earth that wants to see you succeed more than him in this life is not your best friend, brother, or relative; it is your father. The only man that is comfortable in this life, that prays it as a prayer is your father.”

While some agreed with his perspective, others provided counterexamples of fathers who didn’t meet this standard.

Some netizens called the actor’s attention to instances where fathers didn’t support their children’s aspirations or even felt threatened by their success.

thefoodnetworknig2 said, “I have heard a father say he doesn’t want his children to be better than him in life and his friends agreed with him! Anyone can desire to see you succeed, no formula!”

wendy_adammaaaaa noted, “Your parents are people who look at your success without envyyt$.”

mrucee_official noted, “God bless all fathers, we will continue preaching until fathers get their flowers”.

Tiny_fingers wrote, “Why do we now have fathers who use their children for rituals? They should have used themselves for their children.”
