Nollywood award-wining director cum producer, Teco Benson, has pointed accusing fingers on movie sponsors of determining the storyline for commercial purposes.

According to the veteran director, the industry is faced with the challenge of content conflict. This he said is caused by certain film project sponsors who sometimes determine the storyline just for commercial purposes with little regards to societal effects.

He stated that what film makers don’t understand is that they are agent of change and as such, quality of any film determines the message it is passing across to the audience.

Speaking recently on “Democracy in Film Making,” a lecture he delivered at the School of Media and Communication, Pan African University, Lagos, he used the medium to lash out on some political parties for using celebrities for political reasons.

Teco explained that an actor appearing as brand Ambassador in a political and government functions portends a deviation from the standard rules and regulations guiding the industry because the industry is guided by code of conducts.

He is directed movies such as State of Emergency, Terror, False Alarm, Mission To Nowhere, Executive Crime, Wasted Years and Formidable Force and many other movies.
